C.R.U. stands for Creative, Resilient, and Unique. For all girls and women in sport, we help encourage creativity, practice resilience, and develop uniqueness.

Our Founder’s Story

Soleil Leuregans, Founder/co-CEO

My name is Soleil Leuregans and I am the founder of CRU Soccer Inc.

I started playing soccer when I was 12 years old and fell in love with the sport. Soccer made me feel strong and confident and I loved being a part of a team. Like a lot of girls right now, I became obsessed with soccer and would spend all my free time at the park working on my skills and hitting the ball against a wall.

I made my way through the club soccer world from local teams to regional teams and continued on to playing in college. I wanted to be a professional soccer player.

Things changed when in college, I was in a terrible car accident (hit by a drunk driver on the highway) the day before my junior year. I was forced to take a huge step back from soccer.

It took 3 long years for me to recover physically and mentally. In that time I did a lot of thinking. I thought about my experience as a soccer player. I thought about my successes and my failures. I thought about the system I played in, the clubs, coaches, teams, and environments.

After great reflection, I decided it can be better and it should be better. There are gaps for girls and women in sports and I believe that we are not far away from giving every girl in sport an empowered experience.

Sports are here to teach us, to challenge us, to connect us, and to empower us. Girls in soccer have chosen to play the world’s most popular sport and can be connected through sport all over the world!

I created this organization to give girls and women the soccer environments they deserve, the access to knowledge about lifelong wellness, and the self confidence to be an empowered individual.

CRU Soccer is about developing holistic athletes who exemplify joyful athleticism and a passion for lifelong wellness and learning.
